Anyone know the part number for the seal on the front diff right behind the outer u joint on a 2006 F250 4wd 6.0? I can't seem to find it it keeps showing the big one that's in the knuckle. I'm losing fluid so I need to fix ASAP!
It can be aftermarket too.
If you talking the seal I think your are that is only a dust seal.
To get at the axel side seals you have to remove the ring gear
and the carrier. That seal is serviced from the inside. You will not
have to remove the pinion or it nut.
Then you have a tool that drives out the old seals from the end of
the tube. Once that is done you take the installer and set the 2 new
seals from the inside of the dif. All that is left is reassemble ALL of it.
Let me do some digging around and I'll post you the diagram.
Yahiko, sounds like you're talking about inner seals which are the farthest from the ujoint. He said the ones by the joints..
If you got this :
And want to replace it with this newly designed version:
You need this part number:
Ford AC3Z-1S175-A
That one only keeps the dust out and not the oil in.
EDIT : added quote info and photos.
He said that he was loosing fluid. OIL?
If that is the case that outer seal only stops dust.
It's the inner one that is the one for the oil.
This one has the exploded view >>> 205-03-1 Front Drive Axle-Differential
I though that I had the part number for the dust seal but guess I don't
have it hear. I can tell you that they are $21 for one and your going to also
need a knuckle seal set when the axel comes out.
