390 Exhaust question

To anyone that has done exhaust work on a 390 in one of these dent sides. Is it easier to take the motor out and install the exhaust or to muck with it while the engine is in place. I have a hole in a front pipe and it looks like a bitch to get it out and in . I am on a budget and I need this done to get her passed to get her licenced.
Also can anyone tell me if this 76 F250 with the 390 came with a dual exaust or if mine was modified to have a dual. Cause it now has a dual and it don't look right at the tranny crossover , looks like it is jammed in there.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Dual exhausts were never a factory option on any dent.

Welcome to the recurring nightmare called "previous owner" or "PO".

Wait 'til you get to the wiring... that's even MORE fun.

Oh I have a nightmare under the hood for wiring, there are several relays there that I have no ideal what they are there for , all looks like they put them in them selves. also there is a dual battery set up on this that I haven't even started to try and understand yet.

Where is the hole at ? In the crossover ? Is it in a straight section of pipe?
Can you fit one of these over the hole?

Actually some one fabbed a dual exhaust on there , so they welded pipes, there is very little room between the transmission and the pipes as well little room between the frame and pipes , so I think I am going to cut it all out and go back to Factory, but the hole is in the top of the pipe where the weld is, and it is to tight to get any kind of flex hose on or any patch on it .

I'm in the process of installing a dual battery system in my rig right now. Lemme know if you want to pow-wow about it when the time comes.
...I still need to buy $450 worth of yellow Optima batteries. What am I? Nuts?

Going back to stock? Oh man, yer gonna lose some horsepower in your pants. Consider going with Sanderson's 3/4 length headers pN FF427.. not efficient as long tubes but well worth the extra HP and TQ. Visit my build thread for info and pics: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ide-build.html

I got it .. It looks like sawzall time It might be tough to go back to factory at this point because the Y pipe has been altered but you could have it come to a single 3" pipe ..

Well they came straight from the manifold and fabbed the new pipes from there . I am going to have to buy the whole shebang from front cross over to tail , and I am not worried about loosing HP I am just doing this for a summer driver. back and forth to work, If I find she is lagging or dragging azz then I will look for headders when I have more money to spend. It isn't easy to get parts here in Nova Scotia.

It's a stainless steel exhaust band clamp .. They make them in all pipe sizes but you'll need to know the pipe size it's going on ..

Nova Scotia is where my ancesstors are from a long long time ago

My people were once part of the Mi'kmaq Nation (The Red Earth People) 300 years ago and then married into the Iroquois Nation in the early 1800's ..
