I have a 2013 F-250 with the 6.7. I have gotten the typewriter noise when in 4th gear occasionally and have read the threads on it so that is a concern but since it is supposed to be normal I don't think it's my issue. Today I was in a drive thru and started getting a bouncing feeling at idle. The RPMs would dip slightly but not below 1000. When I would drive forward the bouncing would go away but com back as soon as I stopped again.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Correction: Idle RPMs are just over 500. Not 1000. My typo.

Reason: Correction to idle RPM

Somethings definitely out of wack. I suggest getting to the dealership asap for inspection. might be and easy fix before it gets worse.
I called the 2 service depts nearby (10 min away and 40 min). After explaining the issue and that my check engine light came on, they said bring it by next Thursday. Called the other and got a spot on Tuesday. So hopefully nothing happens to the truck between now and then. It just concerns me since it's only around 2 years old and has 23k miles on it. Still under warranty, but I don't think this should be happening.
When the engine light came on could you feel any change in the power level?
I once had a software glitch confuse a fuel injector which the engine automatically went down to running on 7 cylinders for its own protection. Once verified as an anomaly it was re flashed and all is good. (Happened on my 2011 truck which had a 2012 engine under the hood).

Welcome to the site, xproject421. Definitely come back and let us know what you find out at the dealership about the bouncing. I'll be able to jump in and assist once you've received a diagnosis.

While in the drive thru, I didn't notice any change in power. When it came time for me to move forward, everything went smoothly. After I got my order I drove for about 5 min and got up to 30 mph and there weren't any issues there either. Still I went and parked and turned off the truck in case maybe it was just a fluke. I sat for about 15 min and fired it back up. Light still stayed on, but the bounce was gone. I went for a drive and got up to 45 mph with no issues again.
This next is kinda weird to me, but I was at half a tank so decided to fill up. Went the same place I go to 90% of the time for fuel. After filling up, and starting the truck no more engine light. Still going in for service just more confused now.
My 2013 did the same thing at a stop light a couple of weeks ago pulling my trailer, I really had to push down on the brakes. I was going to bring it in when I got home but it hasn't did it since. I didn't have a light though. My speedometer and RPM gauge was jumping. I thought it was the transmission module because that is where the speedometer sensor is and also I thought it was because I have OBD software runing collecting data.
Had the bouncing come back again today but no light. I think the best way to describe the bounce is like a kid is standing on my trailer hitch bouncing. It happened about 2 min away from my house and I had only been out driving for about 30 min. I let it sit in the driveway for a few hours then went to to store. No issues going there and back but it's only about 3 miles round trip.
With mine, I just drove 3 hrs at 65mph towing a 12K trailer and stopped for fuel. Pulled out of the station and pulled up to a stop light. A few seconds later it was like someone hit the back of the trailer, I had to push on the brake and the truck was rocking back and fourth till the light turned green and I moved forward. I pulled my monitor adapter out of the OBD port and it still continued to do it. I thought some on the PID I made where interfearing with the CAN BUS. This is why I'm interested in this thread. I hope they find something conclusive. If my truck does it again, I'll bring it in. I have towed since with no problems. I was thinking this was the transmission braking so I took the truck out of TOW/HAUL Mode.
