Temp guage help

Can factory guages be 'fixed?' my temp guage is on the fritz and reads inaccurately most the time... and irratically the rest of the time. The sender i just replaced with no change, and their is no short that i can find in the wire anywhere. If i cant rebuild the guage, can i use the factory connections to hook up an after market guage, or do i need to just run seperate wiring for an after market guage?

Temp guage help

When my temp gauge went bad, I just went to the local wrecking yard and asked for the temp gauge module out of the instrument cluster. I paid $10 for it if memory serves.
