STEEL SHIMS

Sorry guys for asking about steel shims I did not realize what I was look at A farmer fix to a totally shot steering box, when he could not adjust end play by removing paper gaskets he used a large washer & 4 steel shims to push up on the race I hope it worked for him it sure confused me.

I can't imagine the bearings being that worn! Is the worm all chewed up?

Worm

the lower bearing & race were rusted together, both ends of the worm were pitted & rusted, the farmer fix would not hold lube so he filled the box with grease
