steering box adjustment

I've searched and can only find instructions/details on 6.4L and older Super Duty trucks. Can someone confirm that the process is the same to adjust the gear box for a 6.7L?

'Adjusting' the box isn't going to fix shot bearing or bushings. What is wrong with it? Crawl under and see if lower sector moves while someone else turns the wheel. If no helper take a video with your phone.
The gears themselves aren't going to ever wear enough to need to re-adjust the backlash. IMO, it almost always worn bearing/bushings.

JMHO from past experience. If it needs adjusting it needs replaced.

At one time (long ago) we would adjust the preload on the boxes, are the new boxes different?

That is what I am trying to figure out. I've replaced a lot of the front end, new tie rods, drag link and what not. The Ball joints are good, bearings appear good. Had it all aligned by a place I trust. New Tires, shocks, and steering dampener. The steering feels loose, almost like the front is un-weighed from a heavy trailer on the back. I've got 138,000 miles so far and read in other post that you could make adjustment in the steering box so I thought I'd check for the 6.7L.

A box with worn out bushing/bearing will cause the steering to be loose. It is easy to check, you can see the movement when the wheel is turned. I wouldn't replace anything until you know what is actually wrong.

A drop pitman arm increases lateral force on the sector. I've seen SD boxes worn out at 40k miles even stock, though.

New boxes are the same as the old, although I believe most newer one have sector bearing instead of bushings. Old boxes can be converted to bearings.
