Coolant flow question

I am ready to do the cold a/c / heater hose valve mod. Just want to make sure I install it in the correct heater hose. I assume that the feed hose for the heater core is the one coming from the top of the water pump, and the return line goes into the front of the head? Can someone confirm this for me?

I did this mod, I should be able to answer your question. But, I'm thinking its the other way around where the hot water off the head goes to the heater core. It will be a few days before I get out to the burned up mare but I'll look at it.

The head hose is the "pressure" side I believe.

Correct, the water pump "pulls" the coolant threw the heater core.

I wanted to know this as well. Good deal! Has this worked for you Glenn or is it worth doing? It's hot as Hades here in Texas, so I was going to do whatever helped.

Brian, are you doing the bypass version or the shut-off version?

Gee thanks, Phil. Now that brings up another question...... Is it ok to just shutoff the flow before the heater core, or does it need to be a bypass?

I've always heard that is ok just to stop the flow.
Sorry to cause you a headache.

The Vac mod is more convenient, a ball valve , ( or a pair of vice grips ) if you wish .
