Here is what I have going on . no horn , not all guage lights work but bulbs are good, horn doesn't work , dome light works ,head lights work , factory radio works, brake lights work, but turn signals and flashers are always hot .
Bad ground ?
Bad turn signal switch ?or what?
Side note there has been no cutting or splicing done anywhere to the factory harness.
The first step is to always clean all the terminals at the battery and starter solenoid. Sometimes a corroded or loose connection will provide some power but not all power. Yes, check your grounds too...
Dash lights? Make sure the plugs(light sockets) are making good contact. That mylar film can break or not make good contact.
Horn? That has a few weak spots. Horns themselves work? Relay? relay grounded well? Blue/yellow wire at the column is the wire you need to test to ground. The rag joint should have continuity(should be a metal ring connecting both sides). If that ring is broke, you won't get ground at the horn button.
What do you mean by "always hot?" Has 12v even with key off?
1967/70: The horn brush and its insulator fit into a hole on the outside of the steering wheel, visible when the horn button or horn ring is removed.
The brush contains a thin copper wire that snaps.
When people remove the steering wheel, the brush can fall out, usually unnoticed. Then when it's reinstalled, the horn no longer blows and the people wonder why.
I think it is the T/S switch and/or it's wiring. Everything you mentioned goes through the T/S switch or it's wiring down the column except the dash lights. Unless the dash lights that don't work are the turn indicators. That could be a separate issue behind the cluster.
I believe you are right. I believe it is the tss also. I don't think it is the actual wiring it all looks great and not touched.
Thanks all for your help . I will keep this updated to my findings . Then it is on to exhaust .
I'm curious if you make any progress, I have no brake lights and can't figure out why. I installed a new turn signal switch, still no lights.May be a bad switch from the manufacturer, I'm going to try another
After I replaced the blinker I regained brake lights and turn signals . The issue now is the turn signals always have power. I haven't had time this week to get into the turn signal switch.
talked to the guy working on mine a little bit ago, 1) Found out the p.o. is colorblind after speaking with him yesterday (did some wiring work) 2) aftermarket tss is not the sample color code as original. Brake lights work but turn signals are constant hot
