Just pull it apart, clean it, grease it, and put a new boot on.

Use a grease with teflon in it.

Do you have a clunk at a stop and take off? It is probably this. Should get better with the grease.

The recommended lube for that slip joint is this XG-8.
Amazon.com: Genuine Ford Fluid XG-8 PTFE Lubricant - 3 oz.: Automotive Amazon.com: Genuine Ford Fluid XG-8 PTFE Lubricant - 3 oz.: Automotive
And of course a new boot.

I think he is asking about the splines showing? Or the fact it's missing the boot.

Does the X have a lift?

At this point I'm not sure. Springs don't look stock but otherwise probably no lift. I'm getting ready to change the springs so I'll work on this then also. The joint feels loose and there is a clunk from this i believe. I'll post the part number on the boot when i order it probably tonight.
