cam swap ???
I was curious to know if anyone had swap a camshaft into an engine while it was in the truck? My recent rebuild has front cover leak, so I was thinking swapping the cam while I was in there thanks!

Yes, it is possible to do. The steps are even in the Haynes Diesel Tech manual if you happen to own that. The main thing if you don't take the front clip off is to get the radiator and vertical core support brace out of the way so the camshaft can be pulled out through the front. Depending on the year of your truck and how it is equipped, you often can't get the rear pushrods out of the passenger side because they hit the heater/AC box. But you can still get the lifters out and hold the pushrods out of the way as you put the new camshaft back in. It is pretty major surgery but definitely possible with the engine in the truck...
