JUST completed 4r100 rebuild/install. Upgraded to derale high capacity pan and installed a new 31 pass oil cooler from an 03 super duty. I used a bd diesel rebuild kit along with the atsg. Hell of a job. Sooooooo glad to be done. Now, is there any sort of break in procedure? I used castrol mercon v. Can i extend my service procedure due to higher oil capacity?
If you didn't add a external filter I would add one. Because that will help and I would change out that filter after 10-15k after rebuild.
Other than that just drive it.
Congrats on the rebuild !!
so is this on par with the ford HD or the JW or BTS type rebuild.

Thanks guys. My first auto rebuild by the way. I think that 31 pass external cooler is all the upgrade im gonna fit in there. Thats coming up from the original 7 pass oe cooler. Come to find out, the trans had a leak coming from the tc area. Its STILL there. Ultra frustrating. I did discover a stripped pump housing bolt on the way out. Replaced it with a longer bolt and it held to torque (10-12 ftlb). Whatever. For anyone thinking of upgrading to the 31 pass cooler AND the derale high capacity pan, it takes almost 25 quarts to fill a dry trans and lines.
Oops. No, i didnt install any extra filter. No real place to put it anyway. In line with the cooler, it might get plugged up and/or hamper flow in normal condition. Sure, it would bypass the cooler, but then it misses the extra filter AND is not cooled. Not sure where this particular kit falls in comparison, but had pretty much everything minus the friction band.
