gear swap

How hard is it to swap 3:55- 4:10 fears if you have haynes repair manual, and some mechanical know how, but have never done a gear change before?

Actually is not too difficult, but it needs a lot of experience and some special tools in order to get appropiated contact pattern.

It actually is quite time consuming for a first timer. I just did my first gear swap this past week. I am running a 300I6 with 4.56 now. and the pick up is like night and day compared to the 3.55 I had. also since going from stick to c-6 the gears made up for it. The hard part is that the haynes manual does not list torque specs. too good. try some links to U.S. gears or Richmond which have online Install guide. Still was alittle difficult to perform for me. as for the tools, if you don't have them, BORROW them, they are EXPENSIVE for quality stuff to buy, and you will need them. Take your time and read everything over, check your preloads over and backlash settings over. it's worth the extra time in the end.
