Quick transmission.question . . .
Is the only difference between a 4R100 for a diesel and a 4R100 for a gasser the case? Could the guts theoretically be swapped from one case to the other?

There is added friction disks as well as some steel parts replacing aluminum deep into the barrel.

No, that's not the only difference. But all the guts from one 4R100 will fit into another 4R100 case.
