Question re. Reliability

Hello,

I am looking for information concerning which models, engines, and years are most reliable for a 250 or 350 Ford truck. If I recall, Consumer Reports generally does not track anything higher than the 150, but do other publications?

I would also like to know if certain automobile electronics (e.g. ABS) have been known to cause trouble when the truck is lifted and running big tires, and if so, which years should be avoided based upon that.

Thanks for your help.

Wow your asking for a lot of years...what years are you looking at? This would narrow it down.

More recent is preferred since it would have less wear, but I would consider any year if the emissions and electronics nonsense was not troublesome.

In the 6.7 the second generation engine is awesome. The 6.4 had some problems. I would look in the engine area and look at what is going on with each engine for problems. But just remember that anything mechanical will have problems and some have electrical problems.

Reliability is so maintenance and mileage dependent, I am not sure it is possible to answer this question. I guess if you had access for Ford's warranty data, you would have a pretty good idea for newer models.

Most reliable would be any gas superduty made in the last 20 years.
