Gauge Cluster issue

Does anyone know if the gauge cluster out of one super Duty will work in another truck, just plug and play? I have a 2015 550 that the fuel gauge has quit, which is causing the truck to go into limp mode because it will not allow a regen on the DPF. This is a business truck and i need it to be rolling. There appears to be a national back order on gauge clusters from Ford. I have another truck in the fleet that I could do without so I was wondering if I could just swap the clusters would it work?

I do not know but the manual says....

If installing a new IPC , download the IPC configuration information from the scan tool into the new IPC . For additional information, refer to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) in Section 418-01 .

Section 418-01
Programmable Module Installation (PMI) Using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) When the Original Module is Available

NOTE: Following module installation, some modules require a separate procedure be carried out. For instructions, refer to the specific module removal and installation procedures.

Connect the IDS and identify the vehicle as normal.
From the Toolbox icon, select Module Programming and press the check mark.
Select Programmable Module Installation.
Select the module that is being replaced.
Follow the on-screen instructions, turn the ignition key to the OFF position, and press the check mark.
Install the new module and press the check mark.
Follow the on-screen instructions, turn the ignition key to the ON position, and press the check mark.
The IDS downloads the data into the new module and displays Module Configuration Complete.
Test module for correct operation.

Follow the on-screen instructions, turn the ignition key to the ON position, and press the check mark.
If the data is not available, the IDS displays a screen stating to contact the As-Built Data Center. Retrieve the data from the technician service publication website at this time and press the check mark.
Enter the module data and press the check mark.
The IDS downloads the data into the new module and displays Module Configuration Complete.
Test module for correct operation.

Sooooo I doubt you can just swap them. But if you try it let us know!!

A long shot here.. But being it's a 550 I assume you have a after market bed of some sort on it. Have you checked the wiring at the tank side yet? Some after markets have pinched wires, or not properly reconnected the wires at the tank when installing beds / boxes.

Since it's partially a Ford issue - you could ask the dealer to maybe do the reprogramming for you? Maybe they would comp it. It also would eliminate the potential pinched wires issue too - assuming you don't immediately find that issue...

Just thinking out loud.
