Engine Number Stamp
I can't remember if it was my Haynes manual or my owner's manual, but one of them says that the engine number is the last 8 numbers of the VIN, and that it should be stamped on the engine, transmission, transfer case, and frame. Have any of you found this stamp that matches the last 8 of your VIN?

The engine number is NOT the last 8 digits of your VIN, so there will be no matching up of numbers like you suggest.
There is only a single digit engine code in the VIN and it occupies the 8th spot. Yours should either be a "U" or a "V".
