I'm going to look at a 95 f-350 (gas) this weekend I would like to know what negative things to look for. It has 180,000 miles on it and little body rust. The frame is a little rusty but it's not too bad. He said it had an exhaust leak what or where I don't know. He wants 6K for it. So please let me know what I should look for and how much it could drop the price. Thanks!
Too Much money in my opinion. I paid $2700 2 years ago for a 95 F150 4x4 SC 302, 5 speed, A/C, P/S P/L cruise/tilt with 130,000 miles. No rust, I knew everyone that owned it from new.
tough call without pics, but at 180k miles, an unspecified exhaust leak, and "some" rust, i wouldn't even make the drive for an asking price of 6k. too high.
as for what to look for, at that price it had better be extremely clean, excellent rubber, some nice options, and run/drive like a swiss watch.
Well I went and saw it in person. The frame is rusty but nothing overly bad. He said they recently replace all the starting components. And like I said the interior looked good. But what thinks should I look out for in terms of lowering the price? I think I can talk him down quite a bit
For 6k, it should be in really great condition. $2800 is more a fair price. Rust doesn't necessarily show full extent of damage until you start scraping.
$3000 would be best offer and I would keep looking, period. Don't fall for the first time look and be all starry eyed. There are more trucks out there, for less.
If you got pics, that would help a lot.
Here's a quick idea, check KBB for the value of the truck. Then make the decision.
