Ever since I have owned this truck I have had a metallic rattle every time I hit decent sized bumps. Sure sounded like it was coming from the front. I rebuilt the front with ball joints, shocks, tierods to fix other issues. Still rattled. I inspected all the bushings, push, pulled, banged on just about everything under the truck to reproduce/track down the rattle. NO LUCK. Over the 4th of July weekend we went camping and had to travel down many dirt roads. Of course the rattle was there but I determined it was coming from the rear. Today I was bored so I crawled under the back end and started checking the leaf springs, overloads, shackles to see if they were the issue. While under there on the drivers side, I noticed one of the parking brake cables was between the overload spring and the perch. That didn't look right so I moved it to the top of the perch. As soon as I began moving it it rattled! Hot dam. I found this metal bracket loose on the brake cable. It was banging against the leaf springs. Not sure how it attatches, maybe clips the two cables together, I don't know so I just zip tied it so it won't RATTLE! Woohoo!!
I know there have been other posts on a rattle so I hope this helps someone. This was way to simple for something that was making me NUTS!
My truck in college kept making a "clunk" noise when I stopped or accelerated. Spent about 2 weeks trying to figure out what it was. Finally decided to pull off on a back road and really get down in the weeds to find the suspect. Ended up being a coffee mug rolling around under my seat.

Great find, I have that same truck with the same rattle that has been bugging me from day one, I have been under my truck so many times looking for it. I'm not sure what you found in the picture you posted though
