Parking Brake Mounting
Hi all - I've been putting my interior back together when I realized I had mounted the new wiring harness block to where the parking brake assembly bolts to the firewall. At least I think I did. After looking at the assembly, the firewall mount with the four bolts is at an angle, and my firewall insulation has a square punched into it that seems to fit that plate. With the cable still attached, it's kinda hard to tell, but is it supposed to mount at an angle? I took it out years ago and didn't give it any thought. Did I get lucky? Here's some info I wrote up on the 1965 and '66 style. It didn't change much as far as I know, but obviously some. But, see if this helps at all. Post some pics of your parking mechanism and maybe others will know if the angle looks right. The 1964 and earlier trucks used a part number C1TT-2780-E.

Hey, what a great article! I was wondering how that thing could be disassembled (and put back together.) It'd be some kind of cool if everything asked could be answered like that. Your brake assembly looks like mine; I guess I could've just asked if it fits in at an angle, or is supposed to be a straight shot to the firewall.
