Hey guys, so im new to ge truck world. I just bought a 2006 Ford-F150 Lariat. It has 83,000 miles on it and is in great condition. Before that I hd a 2006 Ford Focus. So it's a big jump for me lol. I was planning on getting a oil change every 3,000 miles?
But here's my question. Is there any easy maintenance I can do myself to keep this thing running good?
first off, I only get my oil changed at 5k...the oil should be semi-synth and have no worries (take mine to the dealer since I had it new to get the oil changed).
maintenance...tranny flush isn't too hard, diff service isn't too hard, brakes can be a bit tricky if you have to swap rotors up front (torque value for the hub nut is 305 ft lbs). plugs are tricky (your year is vulnerable to the breaking plug syndrome since you have the 5.4 liter) think also you might have future problems with the cam phasers possibly...however if they haven't started ticking YET then you might have a good batch.
just do some searching and you should be good I think. these trucks are relatively easy to maintain...a good service manual is your friend however...as well as youtube.
