Over/Under bearings

Over/Under bearings
When I pull a bearing and it says .010, how do I know whether it is over or under? without measuring the rod or crank journal.
It's a clevite 77 bearing.

Crank main and rod bearings will be either standard or undersized.
The undersize refers to the journal diameter. When the journals are machined and ground down to correct wear and damage, they are turned undersize, the diameter is now smaller than the original "standard" size.
