Hello everyone. I have a metallic gold 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4. My question for you is do you know where I can order enough of the Ford metallic gold to paint a front left fender? A real brief history of what happened... I got in a little fender bender, the body shop wanted $2K to fix it. I thought that was nuts, so I ordered a fender and put it on myself. The only problem is that the new fender is primer black. The body shop still wanted $600 to paint it. OK, I'm cheap, but if I can get some of that Ford gold metallic paint, I'll paint it myself. Yeah, it won't match perfectly, but it'll be better than black :-)
Oh... if you know where I can find a used metallic gold front left fender, please let me know. That would be much easier.
Your truck has a Vehicle Certification (VC) label (usually found inside the driver side door) and from that label you can get the paint code ("EXT PNT").
With the code, you can maybe pick up some paint through your Ford dealer.
That color is called "Harvest Gold". There are lots of those around, so you can probaby find one in a junk yard that might be useable. That color probably wouldn't be hard to match up with the rest of the truck if you want to just have a body shop paint the fender for you.
