e4od lost gears HELP

HELPPPPP!!!!

(1995 F250 7.3 Powerstroke, 4x4, no mods, 180k miles)

I was on my way to pick up a load of wood, and when I went to back the truck up to load it, reverse just was not there, I still had drive. Then on my way home, it would not shift into 3rd or OD.

I bought the truck from a friend and he had the trans rebuilt about 4k miles ago maybe 5k, but not long enough to reason it blowing up again.

I was able to get it onto my trailer to take in, but if I could fix it myself that would be amazing.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would believe it was done correctly, I have had work done by the same shop and they were really good. I do know everyone has a few bad days though.

Iirc reverse is solely mechanical and no electrical involved.

I believe it is broken.

sean9049: No the OD light was not flashing, but I will look again, I may have missed it.

Fordman67: If reverse is mechanical, why did my 3 and OD stop as well? and what is broke?

There is no shift solenoid used for reverse. A failed reverse CANNOT be caused by a shift solenoid.

The OD OFF light on the end of the shift handle.

I believe you are correct.

Because reverse, third, and overdrive all use the direct clutch. I think the direct clutch has failed.

Low flow where? If it were a pump issue why would the pump work in 1 and 2, but not any other gear?

I was asking the same thing Karl Childers would… The OP doesn't say that he checked the fluid level and that it was good.

Yep, back to the shop it should and a complete teardown should ensue....then you should tell them to send that unit to John Wood or BTS and have it done right.
