Shop in South Bay?

Hi,

I have a 05 F350 6.0L that needs a new alternator (apparently that is what the dealer diagnosed) as well as a mounting bracket. Any ideas of a a good place to take it? Dealer wants almost $1K for it. Also the steering fluid lines is leaking (another $300....)

I have used before Raineri Auto in south SJ. Liked them, but they are a PITA to get there on the morning in between dropping the kids off, fighting traffic and somehow getting a ride back home.

We are located in Santa Clara and work in Sunnyvale/Mt View (around Moffet) and Palo Alto (El Camino/Page Mill)

Some Basic tools and you can Install the Alternator your self , first be on the Passenger side , pull the belt towards you may take two hands, the Kick stand under the Alt should pop to hold the tension loose unbolt and replace. To Release just pull the belt the same way ( just watch where your Hands/fingers are. Make sure you disconnect the Battery's , what I do is disconnect the Alt wire slip a leather glove over the End and place it some where it don't move. If you still have the 110 amp alt I would suggest upping to at least the 140 amp
