Do they exist?
I'm perusing Ranger listings as I might be in the market for one soon and can not find what I'm looking for. I had a 99 4-cyl 5-spd when I was stationed in Alaska 10+ years ago and it was a great truck, but the only thing it didn't have was 4x4. I have yet to find that combo so I want to ask, did they even make a 4-cyl, 5-spd, 4x4 98+ Ranger?

Get a 3.0L ranger instead, it's a far better base motor with more HP and TQ available but it can still return great fuel milage when driven conservatively, we have 2 of them now and they are much better drivers than the 4 cylinders we had before.

I remember seeing a brand new end of year Black 97, or 98 Mazda B2000 4dr super cab 4wd But with Auto tranny at the local Mazda Dealer when I was looking for my Ranger. It was Fully tricked out & looked to be Way too much truck for that engine, but it finally sold, so I know something close to what your looking for existed.

Auto trans? What gearing?
Our trucks easily break 20mpg, the '04 can be a little harder on gas but it's rarely not towing something.

Yes that would be a slug to drive and if it didn't have 3.73 to 4.10 gears it would be constantly shifting in and out of OD at highway speeds. The 2.3L got a serious power upgrade in 04 or something to 148hp but before that it was a gutless wonder.

truck in my sig. Dont know the gearing. All stock including tires and driven very conservatively.
