I'm rebuilding a 1979 F150, 2X2, with a 460. I've taken it down to the frame and currently have the engine and transmission in the respective shops being re-built.
Right now I'm putting in the new wiring. At this point I'm rebuilding the A/C,Heater assembly and would like to find some parts. I'm finding that pretty hard to do.
Does anyone have any idea where to look for the small parts needed. For example, foam rubber (or some similar material) that surrounds the heater element on 3 sides and holds it in place; P/N D3TE 18476-AA. Also the small teflon? washers for the ends of the door shafts.
You should be able to use weatherstrip foam around the heater core. If you mean the round cylindrical washers for the strikers on the doors, you can get them (look in the "Help" spare parts sections at your local store) at most any store for less than $5 for a blister pack. Takes one of the big Torx bits to break the bolt loose, then just unscrew it and slide the new one on the shaft of the bolt. Try to align it carefully with your door latch, it can be a real b*tch to open the door if it's misaligned.
Thanks for taking the time to answer. As for the teflon parts, I was referring to the damping doors in the HVAC housing. The shafts are 3/16" and the teflon pieces fit over them and through the holes in the housing.
Ford didn't sell the bushings separately. On two of them, to get the bushings you had to buy the shaft also. On the third one, Ford only sold that shaft as part of a plenum chamber assy.

Unfortunately, no dealer or obsolete parts supplier has any.
