Engine smell in cab

so its been nothing but hot here in WA state the last couple weeks and ive had the ac on and windows down basically the whole time and ive notice some oil spots on the driveway... i got under the truck and was feeling around where i saw the suspected oil, and well it seem as though its water mixed with a little oil and i have a small amount of oil leak from my intercooler pipes and elbow...

with this messy new thread im about to post can any give me some things too look into and figure out why i have the oil spots that looks like its mixed with water and why my in cab air vents seem to put out an engine/emisions smell?

Look at the up pipes and exhaust manifolds for leaks. Where is the oil dripping at from the truck?

okay looking for exhaust leaks, how do i spot them, just super rust or corrosive spots.

so looks like its coming from above the front axle somewhere because i think its hitting the axle first. ill look more into hopefully tomorrow...

sorry if i seem a liitle short just finished dropping and replacing my oil pan on my car and got a lot going on this week

You will be black soot on the firewall if the up pipes are leaking, the exhaust manifolds can be harder to see.

didnt get a chance to look at the truck today, damn... but i do thank you for helping me diagnose the problem(s)

as for the oil leaks, are diesels kind of a "dirty engine" anyways and will most have a small leak here or there and seem to be a normal thing?

It is an engine! It has seals and gaskets that go bad over time just like a gas engine.

If someone is sloppy when putting fluids in it, it will be dirty.

If you are a clean freak like some of us, the dirt will be minimum.

The up pipes to the turbo from the manifolds have flex joints in them. They go bad from time to time. Someone on here sells a repair kit and repaired ones. I can not remember who it is ATM.

The engine smell if it is diesel exhaust smell is more then likely there. If you are smelling fuel or oil then look for the wet spots!

try one of those little mirrors on a stick and a flashlight to find you're uppipe leak look at the braided bellows and shields for soot, that's where mine let go, and stunk up the cab, I replaced it with ppe. uppipe
