MBRP selection - need help

So it's time to upgrade the blow hole.

I don't have the cash for stainless right now...so aluminum it is.

I'm looking at the S6212PLM right now...that way I can customize the muffler of my liking if I choose to add one.

It doesn't state anywhere that it specifically fits the Excursion though.

So my question is...what are you 6.0 Ex using and does anyone know if this model fits our trucks?

TIA!

I installed the MBRP XP Series 4” Stainless Steel, Turbo-Back S6216409 Exhaust w/ Cat Delete FS9414. I installed it myself in my garage.

Not sure if that model fits our trucks.

I would wait (if at all possible) and save up for the Stainless Steel. That way you would never have to worry about it again.

Just a curious question, have you thought of going to an muffler shop and having them build you a custom setup? I only ask since I have a friend in that business, and his stuff blows away the kit competition. You might find that you can afford a custom setup in stainless after all. I know that if I needed an exhaust, it is the way I would go.

Good luck!

Good idea. I didn't think of that. There's one very reputable shop nearby where I can get a quote.

I hear ya there. I had one stainless exhaust on a mustang that looked like crap being up here in MA. I required a lot of cleaning to keep up the appearance. Another benefit to AL kits, I suppose.

I'll give MBRP a call and see what they say about fitment. I know they're going to say no, and that I need a system to has the provision for a cat, but I'll see what I can get out of them.

If memory serves the have a "test pipe" that just happens to clamp in place in the system.

That test pipe in ss is around $75 I think. I did mine last year....memory is failing

The cat sucks up more 6.0l sound than the muffler. Go muffler delete, and cat test pipe on deck. Best of both worlds, and only takes 20mins or so to change from mellow cat to rumbling straight.

Good idea William - never even thought of that.

I did find out the system I was looking into won't fit the Ex's for whatever reason. So I'm looking into other manufacturers that offer a straight, mufflerless system. The option for a test pipe will be something to look for now.

It looks like Flo Pro's 817 system is the closest thing to my needs. Has a muffler, and from the installation picture, looks to have it's own test pipe piece already included. I'll have to inquire and get some answers.
