I have a 1976 F100 Ranger with a 360 Engine with a Autoline 2250 (I think I always get confused) two barrel carb on it now. Looking to either upgrade or find something that I can get better gas mileage as this is my daily driver and work truck. Is there an easy way to go to a four barrel or something of the like. Just wondering what kind of set ups other people have and how they did it. Need something better than what I have now. Any help would be great.
MPG isn't gonna get much better with a 4V. But the shortest path (and low buck path) is to find a 80-pound cast iron 4V intake and previously used carb. An intake will range from $20 to $50 whereas a used 600 cfm carb ranges from $75 to $125 depending.
Nowadays there is EFI and overdrive!!! But that normally involves mucho dinero.
For the intake yes.. I have see some in the yards I visit but whatever carb was on it is usually gone. I plan to get an OEM intake the next time I see one for my 71 F250 - already have carbs.. A 600 cfm Autolite 4100 or Summit's house branded 600 cfm.
The other bet is to surf your local Craigslist for an intake and carb.
If you happen to find any Edelbrock 2105 or 7105 for less than $200 ya might wanna jump on it because retail is like $340 to $370 nowadays. Check for corrosion and munged up threads.
Well may or may not help, but i got an eddy 2171 4v intake non egr new for 160.00, felt like i stole it. Also purchased a new 2150 carb from carburetor look up in FL. Well i got the carb to put on factory 2v intake and while the carb was in transit i happened on the intake. I bought a 2v - 4v mister gasket adapterand the truck runs way better than i expected and am getting 10 - 11 mpg out of a 77 400 f250 C6 4.10 gear w/ 31x10.50's. Fwiw
