Tonneau Covers

Hey everyone. I am looking at getting a tonneau cover for my Ranger. I live in Jacksonville, Fl and I have seen a lot of the roll up tonneau covers on all makes and models of pickups around here. The two brands I have seen the most are Truxedo and Lund International, and I was wondering if anyone has used either brand and what some of the pros and cons are of having a cover.

well it all depends on why you want a cover. I have tried either of the soft ones, I have a fiberglass one for my truck. currently it is off and I need to modify it to fit the truck with the truck box installed. I did this on my F350 and it gives me a hard lockable cover and yet I have a crossbed truck box to carry stuff in.

When I had the fiberglass on the ranger it worked well but then you lose out on storage as with the box. everything slides up to the front and then you are reaching in over the side to get stuff. I need to measure the box and reinstall and measure the cover then cut it off as needed.

My son has a soft one on his truck and he likes it but does not carry anything valuable back there. The hard ones will let ya cover and keep stuff away from prying eyes. The on on the f350 works well got it off craigs list for a short bed for around $150 or so. When traveling can have the suitcases etc in the back tailgate locked top locked.

So it depends on what you want to have a cover for.

I have a Yukon trail which was about $115 shipped. It's nothing fancy but it looks and fits good. If you don't care about extra bells and whistles I'd buy another.

Im plannng to buy one too. There are a lot of tonneau covers brands but i'm looking at Lund and Tonno Pro. Is it complicated to install a folding tonnaeu cover?

I have a Lund soft cover on my 01. I've used Lund on 3 other trucks. 1 disadvantage is the rear cross frame. If I have a large item it has to be lifted over the track rail. Lund are easy to install about 30 minutes. I guess it comes down to personal preference. Good luck!!!

I have the undercover classic on mine and I love it. Very durable and can hold weight on top of it. I once had 4 grown adults sitting on it at a tractor pull and it didn't even bow. They have many different models to choose from. Mine is just the basic black plastic one. Had it since 2007 and it still looks like new, other than a few scratches from me hauling stuff on it. I am currently running a Bakflip F1 on my 8' bed - I have been happy with it except it leaks pretty good at the tailgate, almost like it is not long enough for the bed even when I pull it as far back as I can before exposing the front of the bed. The only other minor issue is blocking the rear window with it all the way up, but I like that over the Rough Country I had on another truck where the first panel was fixed.
