powder coating
Took my rear end out of my f-150 and went through it, new gears and bearings and a new Eaton Tru Trac, you know the complete rebuild,
While it was apart I took the housing to the powdercoater and had it blasted inside and out. Had it coated semi-gloss black. When I picked it up I noticed that he did cover the ends and the studs that hold the punkin in. But he coated the area that the third member and gasket mates to. Am I going to have to remove this powdercoating or will it make a good seal with the gasket? It is a great job, nice and even. What do you think? Bud.

I've done a lot of powder coating, and have never had a problem with the powder causing a leak in a gasket area. However, I'm very careful to media-blast the surface and then clean it to ensure the powder adheres. If the powder isn't stuck well then you can have a problem.
So, I would check with the guy that did it to see how he prepared the surface. As said, it should be media-blasted to provide a texture that the powder can grip. But, if the part wasn't perfectly clean before blasting the impact of the media can put oil down in the craters and that's really had to get out. And, assuming the part was perfectly clean, the media will leave dust down in the crater and that must be removed as it will prevent the powder from adhering to the part.
If they properly prepared the powder you shouldn't have any leaks.
