Solenoid hanging
As you all know I've been working on my 88 f-250 a little at a time, I recently replaced clutch, bleeding was a bear but I got it done. I drove the truck about 75-100 miles this weekend to work on tractor then home, just jumped in it to run to the ice machine, and drove fine, I noticed at first it seems like a vacuum leak as when I was taking it out of gear it sped up when it should have been idling, but when I tried to crank to come home solenoid hung up and starter was smoking I pulled cables off and pulled it to the back of the store for the night.
I had to take off the starter to drop the trains obviously, but it's been working fine since then until today, I didn't have any shims in it taking out so none went in, would it need shims now with a new clutch? Any ideas? I'm going to put a new starter and solenoid and wires on tomorrow after work behind the store, anything else I should pick up at Napa?
Thank for all the help
