BellhousING question

I'm in the middle of fixing up a 79' 302 2wd manual, the clutch fork pivot was been sheered right off, so I was looking to buy a new bellhouse, does any 302 bellhouse line up? Is there anything that I need to be aware of? Thanks!

All 302s have the same bell housing bolt pattern on the block. Different types of transmissions can have different bell housings though, at that end...

No such thing as a clutch fork pivot with a 302, only used with 351M/400

Scroll down to look at the pic: There are two pivots that the equalizer bar (7528) rides on, inner (7A572) bolts to the bell housing, outer (7507) bolts to the frame rail.

What happens: Each one of these pivots uses a nylon bushing (7543). When the bushings wear and/or crack apart, the pivots wear down rapidly, eventually snap off.

Buying a used bell housing (new not available): The pivot was sold by itself, may be present, may not be. But, if present, it may not be any better than what you have now.

D7TZ-7A572-B .. Inner Equalizer Bar Pivot / Obsolete

Applications: 1977 F100/150 302 from serial number Y80,001 / 1978/79 F100/150 302.

WESLEY OBSOLETE PARTS in Liberty KY has 24 = 606-787-5293.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
You should replace both the nylon bushings, the one on the inner pivot is history, the other on the outer pivot probably isn't much better.

2) C1AA-7543-A .. Clutch Equalizer Bar Nylon Bushing / Available from Ford.

Applications: Myriad 1961/83 FoMoCo vehicles.

TIM SHORT FORD in Hazard KY has 3 = 606-436-5239.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 12 = 800-543-4959.

DENNIS CARPENTER in Concord NC has 524 = 800-476-9653.

Hey thanks for the response, that while assembly lmc has listed as the release bar assembly,I replaced that and the bearings, the clutch fork pivot also listed in lmc is a piece riveted into the bell housing that the clutch fork uses for leverage to push the throw out bearing I'm assuming, the only way to repair this I've come across is to get a knew bellhouse with the piece still intact do to not being able find a part number for the piece. Lmc truck has it listed but only up to a 77

I'm assuming, the only way to repair this, is to get either one of the following...
D9TZ-7C508-A .. Clutch Release Lever (fork) Ball Pivot Seat / Obsolete

Shown as 7C508 in pic (ignore 351M/400).

Applications: 1979 F100/350 300 I-6 & 1979 F100/150 302.

B & B PARTS in Bronx NY has 1 = 718-892-1186.

GLOFF FORD in Clifton TX has 2 = 800-659-6632.

RED TAYLOR FORD in Corning AR has 2 = 870-857-3518.

MUSTANG'S ETC. in Van Nuys CA has 2 = 818-787-7634.

RPN PARTS in Erie PA has 3 = 888-864-9305.
---------------------------------------------------
Note: The part that LMC is referencing is Ford part number D7TZ-7522-A .. Clutch Release Lever Bracket / Obsolete

This piece was originally riveted to the bell housing, but most Ford techs when replacing it, used bolts and nuts. I couldn't find a pic of it.

LMC's catalogs are rife with errors and omissions! The actual applications are: 1977 & 1978 F100/350 I-6 & V8's, but it was not used in 1979.

If your 1979 has it, the trans has been swapped.

Take a dremel/craftsman rotary/grinder and grind the rivets out. I swapped in a 385 series bell with a bent pivot as you refer to it. I ground the rivets, pried it out, and installed the pivot that Bronco graveyard sells. Its nuts on the inside and countersunk machine screws on the outside with a Phillips head. Easy repair. Holds up just find. You can get another bell but replacing it is easier. Just verify which pivot you buy, your fork may not be original so it could take the blade or ball style pivot.
