Frame and trailer hitch
I believe the 2011 F150 all had the trailer hitch from the factory which is part of the rear frame crossmember, is this accurate? I've noticed on mine this is one of the few places on this truck starting to develop actual rust and I would like to eventually pull it off to sandblast and re-coat. Will this compromise the frame integrity if the truck was driven for a week or two without the hitch in place?

only the trucks with a towing package come with a hitch. one of my co-workers just bought a 2011 that did not have a towing package and it did not come with a hitch (he had to put one on).
