I post enough problems on here and need to provide some balance, lol.
My AC has never worked worth a dang. You could only feel air at the highest fan speed, and really only if you were driving. After reading a bunch of different threads, so many that I know don't remember who to rep, I figured that I needed to clean my evaporator core. Nice instructions here showed me where it was and how to get to it.
I didn't go all the way and take the cover off to expose the entire core. I could see a little bit of it after taking the squirrel cage out and there was gunk on it. So, I got a toothbrush and another brush and just reached up in there cleaning out as much as I could just to see if it made any difference at all figuring that if it did, I'd take the whole cover off and do it right.
Dang, it was night and day. My AC blows great now in all 4 speeds, so much that I'm lowering the fan speed even in this Texas heat. Needless to say, I've been too lazy to go back and take the whole cover off, but if it starts messing up again, I now know why.
Isn't it just amazeing what good air flow can do to a heat exchanger?
What it all boils down too a/c is just a different type of heat exchanger at the evry root level.

it got cool before, so guess it was exchanging heat OK, but just no air volume. I had a portable fan mounted in front of a vent to provide a boost and that worked pretty good. Now it's great without it.

LOL, it wasn't much to look at. Without boring you with details, I had what I'll just call a "big box" in the front seat of my truck that created a platform right in front of the dash, below the AC vents. I also carry a small battery-operated fan about 6" tall that I use on camping trips. I just set in on the platform in front of the vent. Worked pretty good.
