Over heat incident
Bought a 2006 F250 turbo diesel last month with the intention of pulling a 5th wheel. Then this weekend I drove it up a grade for the first time, and at the top of the hill my temperature gauge started to climb until my overheat light came on. I pulled to the side, turned on the heater and let the engine cool. It took about 2 minutes to drop to normal temp. Since I was already at the top of the hill, I decided to try driving it again to see if it got hot. It never climbed above normal temp for the rest of my drive and hasn't since. On my return trip, I was ready and when I saw it start to climb I turned on my Heater and the temp went back to normal again as I climbed the hill. What could cause this? Has anyone experienced this before? It was night time when this occurred, and I wasnt hauling anything. Any input would be appreciated.
