OBD-II Monitors?

OBD-II Monitors?
Anyone running an outboard monitor on the OBD-II port? I have a Kiwi PLX and am thinking about a different app to get more than basic info, and wonder what works with our trucks?

May not be too pronto. But the app I have, Fuzzy Luke, crashes just as it gets connected to the vehicle via the Kiwi PLX. Every time. So I downloaded another app, and it connects to the PLX until you almost get data and then loses the connection. So, I don't know for sure that it is the PLX, but it would appear so. And it cost $70 a few years ago.
Now I don't know if I need new hardware, new software, or both.
