I'm gonna order a new a/c system from rock auto. But I can't seem to find the expansion valve on my truck. To order the correct a/c kit. Where would I find expansion valve. It's a 79 f250 351m all help is appreciated. Also. What do you guys think about York compressor?
Assuming you have factory installed A/C
The expansion valve is against the firewall right where the hoses go into the evaporator case.
I would rather do the Sanden style conversion than reuse a York.
This is the one you need from Rock Auto.

Thanks for the quick response mike. I saw that but just couldn't confirm if it was a right angle of block... Thanks for the help. And what's this sanders conversion a/c? I want to know before I pull the trigger on this purchase....

The original York compressor is a very old design. Its heavy, noisy, prone to vibration and not very efficient.
The Sanden style compressor is modern rotary design. Light, compact, efficient and runs much smoother and quieter than the York, plus the cost of a new Sanden compressor with clutch is less than the cost of a rebuilt York minus clutch.
If you have all the brackets and pulleys from the factory installation you can get a conversion bracket that bolts the Sanden style compressor to the York bracket. The hose fittings on the Sanden are different than the York so you'll also need to either have new hoses custom made (that's what I did) or they make adapters that will allow you to reuse your old hoses.
Nostalgic Air makes a couple of different brackets. One bolts the compressor solidly to the mount and you use the original tensioner pulley to tighten the belts, the other allows you to pivot the compressor to tighten the belt. Here are some pictures of my conversion, a '73 F100 with a 390.
Ok. Looks like I might be going sanden then. Where can I actually get one of those compressors? And is nostalgic air in Tampa fl?
They used to be in Tampa, they've moved around Ocala. I got my compressor from them also. Check out their website, they have the compressor and any brackets you may need.
I had a local A/C shop make the hoses.
