Greetings folks. This is my first post/question here. I recently bought a 2006 F250 Super Duty, 4X4, 6 liter diesel. My issue is that I have an annoying vibration/bounce between 45 and 50 mph. I thought it may have been a tire out of balance, but even after replacing all 4 tires and rear brake pads the vibration is still there. Any suggestions?
There has been much debate and work on this problem on another powerstroke forum.
I have a 2006 F350 Super Cab FX4 longbed 6.0 and the general consensus is that it is the frame that causes this 45 mph hop/bounce. Some have found that with frame bracing the bounce has stopped. Others have video'd showing the cab in relation to the bed during the bouncing and the cab is relatively still while the bed is bouncing quite a bit. And some have found that by using traction bars they've been able to eliminate the hop.
In my truck I can get it to do it every time by going 45 mph. But, if I have any significant weight in the bed (such as an old Suzuki ATV I used to haul around) the bounce/hop just wasn't there.
But there's also a shudder issue that's separate from the 45 mph hop. I get a shudder on acceleration which is most likely attributed to either a bad drive shaft carrier bearing or my limited slip clutches. I suspect it's the carrier bearing because it also happens if I accelerate from a stop in a straight line.
Thanks for that information. My truck is smooth as silk when I'm accelerating even through the 45-50 mph range. It only bounces when I'm maintaining that speed. I suppose I'll just have to get used to the vibration and not sing along with the radio during those speeds.
