The code for body on my tag is F81. Who can translate this for me? ND? This is about the only mystery on this truck as the Father in law has died and the seat was recovered before I got it and my wife does not remember what color the original seat was.
Also can anyone tell me why every truck I have seen the steering wheel and column is body color? On mine the wheel and column is black. Personally I like the black but wonder why mine is different than most.

For 1964
F81 = F = Black all vinyl
81 = 81B Custom Cab
Your steering column color might be because of the seat color.
My Ranger is gold and white tu-tone with Palomino mustang seats and the column and wheel is more matched to the seats, not the gold on the dash. In 1966 they tried to a certain extent to match the column and wheel to the seat(s). Not sure about 1964.
Thanks that explains everything. Guess I lucked out when I chose to go with a black seat even though not all vinyl. It was redone in a tan Nauga hide. Does anyone remember the now extinct Nauga that the hides came from?
