Source for Flareside Step brackets?

Does anyone have a source for the bracket that supports the step, just behind the cab on 80-86 Flaresides? Have checked my known sources, and can't seem to find them.

I could probably have them replicated out of what's left of the ones I have but before I go that route, just wanted to see what's available

Do you know by chance if the step brackets on the dent side era flaresides are the same? I'm junking out a '73 eight foot flareside and I think I still have the steps with brackets in the recycle pile...

Right side shown as basic part number 200L52

E0TZ-83200L52-A Right & E0TZ-83200L53-A Left .. Body Side Step Brackets / Obsolete

Applications: 1980/87 F100/350 Flaresides (body style 83) / No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has either one.

I'm curious - the "83" before the basic part number shown here is the model year... does everything on this page then also have the EOTZ prefix?

The 83 (and in the parenthesis at the bottom of the page) designates the Body Type...

83 = F100/350 Regular Cab

Hey NumberDummy, I assume that they are indeed different but - do you have a sense of how close the 73-79 brackets are to the '80-87s?

F834, if you still have the brackets I may be interested in them. I could perhaps have a machine shop modify them and it would be better than starting from scratch

I changed your user name to reflect what 83 refers to!

(sigh) Geez Louise, where did you come up with this wild mule p!ss?!
83 is the body style for a Flareside pickup bed, 99 is the body style for a Styleside pickup bed.

Since the brackets are for a Flareside only, the basic body part number begins with 83.

I replied to this but for some reason my post never uploaded...

I do still have the brackets but they are at my folks place and it might be a couple weeks before I could get to them. I am almost positive they are different (taller) than the '80s brackets. I should be able to compare them, as I actually have a dismantled '86 Flareside bed there as well. Sorry, I don't want to let go of those brackets since it is a complete bed minus the tailgate and I want to be able to sell the whole bed or perhaps save it for a future project.

Appreciate it! I'm not in a hurry, am in a similar situation to you actually, and am trying to chase some remaining parts

As I looked for parts for my own truck, I realized that I'd accumulated almost a complete spare bed (less tailgate). I'm still looking for the step brackets, rear light brackets and bumper to complete it.

If the older brackets could be modified by a machine shop, or cut down, it would probably be better than starting from scratch. Whenever you get to look at them, let me know what you think

Ken

OK Every time NumberDummy posts I get all happy to see what cool diagram he's got this time...

That does look pretty different. Still may be worth starting with though.

Well, life has been throwing rocks at me... I hit what looked like a clump of mud in the dim twilight and punched a fist sized hole in the cast aluminum oil pan of my TDI Jetta So I towed it to my parents' house where I can work on it next week... I had pretty much zero time to pull or mess with the brackets, but I did compare them and they are almost identical. The only difference I could see is that the upper mounting area is notched in slightly on the '73 bracket whereas the '80s bracket is flat on the back. I think a piece of plate to shim it flush is all you would need.

I also have some tail light brackets but they are the old style for the little round lights. I like the round lights and was going to use them until I saw how absolutely absurd the flareside bed looked on my truck. I saw some pics of 9th generation crew cab flaresides that I thought were sharp. On my truck it was an abomination. It had to go. I picked up a short style side bed for my frame chop project.

Bump on this thread... I changed the oil pan on my Jetta and had time to pull the brackets this time. Definitely very close. Looks like a plate or spacer at the top to off-set the notch, and one of the step bolt holes needs re-drilled because the step is deeper on the 70's bed. The tip of the bracket might need trimmed off if it is too long. All very minor changes.
