Hey im new to the form and joined for the awsome help ive already recieved from reading other post. I recently purchased a 77 f250 4x4 flatbed that someone has converted into a dually I believe. My plans are to get it on 35s and do some cool fab work to the flat bed.
I'll soon upload more pictures and see what yall think. Ive been told it has a 400 but not sure. It has an edelbrock street preformer 400 4bl intake on it as well as long tube headers.
Got the bed pulled off this weekend and ready for the metal work. Ive got 2x3 tubing for the head ache rack and im concidering herculiner. While im at it im going to take advantage of having access to the rear of the truck. Any suggestions? Im going to make sure all of the lighing is up to par. Ive alralready spotted electric tape so we'll see what kind of electrician owned this one.
Congrats on the purchase (theft) of that sweet ole highboy. You are correct with you suspicions of the dually conversion on that truck. But that was a pretty common mod on the 250 4x4's and 350 pick up trucks back in the day. It also looks as though the cab might have been swapped since the High boy trucks had the gas tank behind the seat. Can't wait to see more progress on this sweet truck. Any questions that have don't be afraid to ask.
Looks like a late enough 77 to have a rear gas tank....so with the bed off, you can easily replace the sending unit. And clean up the frame ground, that is notorious for causing a bad fuel gauge reading.
Thanks its exactly what ive been looking for. I'll post pictures soon as possible not enough service. As for the tank ive already replaced it, sending unit, and the fuel pump. The tank was rusted through and nothing left of the sending unit. I cant find any numbers on the rear end. It seems narrower than most duallys
So replace the hard fuel lines, ck the brake lines. I'd bet rear axle is a D60 with duely adapters or maybe a D70?
Look for some BOM #'s on the axle tube and maybe a D60 or D70 in the back side lower R/H web finger casting? Or what ever you call it...that is what I call it.
