Timing 300 inline 6
Hey guys we quick question, what would cause the timing mark to "float" around and not stay on one specific point when adjusting? It was 19*atdc, I had to drop it to 9*atdc to pass smog. I removed the spout before trying but can't keep the mark in one place.

I discovered my balancer was spinning on the crankshaft snout. The balacer cracked along the entire length of the keyway. I had to replace the balancer. You might check your balancer to see if the same thing has happened, if your problem is the same.--if it is, replace the Woodruff key too or this problem will be back.

Thanks guys. Shipping was quick and got my spacers within 3 days. I'm going to wait to use my buddies lift next weekend. I plan on putting an add a leaf or air bags in the back further down the road

This is the used part from the 95 F-250. A hella lot better condition than mine. But......
This is where one of the reliefs used to be. The truck was presumed to have low oil pressure from a cracked oil pump suction tube. I don't believe this is the cold oil bypass. That relief I believe is next to the threaded insert for the oil filter. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Both reliefs are dimple stamped in place where as mine has C-clips. Regardless the price is right. $0. I plan on giving some $ for it wether he likes it or not.

It's like that time I was in Denver and caught up in a weed storm when a bunch of smoking cars passed me and I don't remember what happened after that but all of a sudden I stopped at a red light nearly out of gas when I had just had half a tank I went this way and that way and finally asked for the interstate they said its in Denver I asked where I was turns out Boulder about 30 miles off the interstate
