You'd still have to pull over on the highway to fill-up, and standing on the driver's side with a 5-gallon gas can for 15 minutes isn't really on my list of things to do 3 to 4 times a day. You need an excursion (w/stock 44 gallon tank, with a diesel too).

It's just a stupid gas tank. Problem is our EPA needs to have all the emissions equipment on the tank. So for an aftermarket company to make a legal larger tank they need to certify that it meets standards. The aftermarket doesn't want to spend the money to do so or if they do the consumer will pay for it. Hence the high price. Diesel is no problem. My long bed has a 39 gallon tank so I know Ford has the emissions equipment for a large gas tank.

A 5.4 with 3.73's will be constantly downshifting. No wonder you drink the gas.
