2003 tranny problem !

Cool 2003 tranny problem !

When i have the truck under a heavy load backing it up the trans spits out tranny fluid and will catch on fire, I've heard this is a problem with the excursion, i was told on here that there was a stronger trans seal or torque converter seal i can get i just can't find the thread ! If any one can help please let me know,
its a 2003 with v-10

its a 2003 with v-10
The problem is the torque converter hub seal. When it gets too hot it softens and leaks.

There is a better seal available. It is made from a material called Viton. If you replace it, also replace the torque converter hub bushing. Carefully inspect the torque converter hub for ANY damage. The tiniest scratch on the hub can cause the new seal to fail, too.

Other things that you can do to help is if you have a 4x4, do the heavy backing in 4x4 low. This will lower the load on the torque converter by 2.7:1, which will GREATLY reduce the heat in the torque converter and the seal.

You can also make sure the trans cooler and radiator are not obstructed by debris so that the airflow isn't blocked.

It is aftermarket, not from Ford. I don't know who makes it, anywhere that sells transmission parts will know about it.
