It depends on the year of the transmission. The earlier ones had friction material that were made to be compatible with type F. After a certain year (don't remember exact year) they changed the material to work with Dex/Merc.
Did you pull your dipstick and look on it. Many times it will say. I have read where people have said that using type F in the c6 regardless of year will just give firmer shifts, while others say it will ruin the trans. I choose to stic with what it is designed for.
You could always just call or go to a parts store and find out since they have that info in the computers, as well as how much you'll need for a flush (like I need to do)
