I have been all over the forums and the interweb to find the answer to this question.
I have a '99 f350 (7.3 brute) and the electric door locks started to not unlock. No biggie...removed and replaced actuators and they now work fine. However, while futzing around with this assembly I noticed that there are two(2) electrical plugs, one to the actuator and one to the latch assembly. My question is, what the heck does the second plug for? What does it do? Please take a look at the pic and if anyone knows what this is for please share.
My guess (and it is ONLY that, nothing more) would be interior lights. When you unlock the door, doesn't your overhead light (and, in the case of pick-ups, the cargo light) illuminate? Someone else should chime in shortly....
That is a good logical guess. I did not think of that but it is the only other thing that happens when you manually unlock the doors. Other trucks/cars I have owned also unlocked the passenger side door lock when using the key lock on the drivers side but I don't think this was a feature for this truck.
You guys are correct, if you have noticed there is no door jamb plunger switch (the kind older vehicles used for the dome lights) on our trucks. They built it into the door latch, this way it sometimes also lets you know the door is not properly latched/closed.
