Has anyone put a set of pyro and boost gauges in a 6 liter yet?? I am fixing to put a set in my new truck. Just wondering what egt's and boost the 6 liters are putting out.
Mine sees a max EGT of about 1050 degrees at full load and a max boost of about 24psi. The worst part is you have to really wind it out long and hard to achieve full boost. So much for that "new/improved" VGT turbo! It doesn't respond as well as my old Cummins didn't with it's HX35 Holset.
My 6.0 runs great and in the Texas heat it is very easy too see 1200* on a full throttle run. Boost is very responsive and I end up with a max of 26 psi. I have never been able to get EGT over 1200 with or without a load. My only real complaint is 13.5 mpg around town.
Joe Bob: might i suggest a trip to the dealer - alot of people have had bad VGT solenoid problems - or you could go get your old Cummins back?
I did the VGT solenoid replacement thing and it made no difference. Boost still comes up really slow from dead stop. Your truck must be fueling a lot better than mine based on the EGT and max boost you're seeing. It probably runs better too. Mine is a real dead dog.
