I would like headers but I've been having a hard time finding some that will for sure fit and clear everything. It has 33s on it I was considering a 2in lift and 35s. It screams on the highway doesn't like doing much over 55. That's something is like to fix. Who knows maybe an nv4500 swap.
Well, now ya know that 35s with a 3.50 rear gear is doggy. A 3.90 rear gear would be better.
Btw, I recall the carrier split on D44s is 3.92. Meaning, going to a numerically higher gear, like a 4.10, to coordinate with 35-inch tires will require more than just a new ring and pinion for the D44.
Regardless, lockers are recommended if you've got the axle torn down that far.
Got an NP-205 t-case?
Good luck with headers... 2x with fitment issues. All I'll say is look for 5/16ths or thicker flanges and at least 16 gauge tubing. And in my opinion, ceramic coating is very much well worth the cost.
With all those vibration issues you better put a good inspection eye on the trans/t case crossmember mounts, motor mounts and the in put and out seals along with the carrier bearing.
The ford 9" rear end isn't being rebuild or I would put lockers in it. This rear end was under someone's project truck. They started a ground up restoration, got to the frame and ran out of money. So the guy with all the fords bought it. I went to him for a rear end and sold me that one. The only thing wrong with it was the breaks parts in it weren't any good. But neither were the parts in my last rear end and I already had the break hardware ordered. I know one thing the break lines are a pita. They would just rap if you tried to unscrew them.
Lol we he had a brand new front and rear axle had the frame sanded and painted and new front and rear suspension. For all I know something came up and he needed to sell it. All I know is I got some good parts
