HEY GUYS, I HAVE A 78 BRONCO NON LIFTED AS I CAN TELL... NEW PLOY BUSINGS RADIUS AND +2 C BUSHINGS AND DRAG LINK, AND SWAY BAR BUSHINGS, ALL NEW SYYJACKER HYDO7000'S SHOCKS ALL 6 ON TRUCK. DUAL STEERING STABILZERS,, NEW RED HEAD STEERING GEARBOX, NEW BC BRONCO DUAL ADJUSTABLE STEERING LINKAGE FROM ONE SIDE TO ANOTHER.. STEERING SHAFT LOOK VERY TIGHT, AND RAG JOINT APPPEARS TO BE GOOD, NO LOOSENESS. HERE IS THE PROBLEM.......GOING DOWN THE ROAD OK, BUT A LITTLE LOOSE FOR MY TASTES. THE WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE IT, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT STEER BACK TO CENTER EASILY, L\KINDA HAVE TO OVER STEER TO GET IT BACK TO CENTER, THE I NEED TO COUNTER STEER TO GET STARIGHT FROM GOING TOO FAR THE OTHER WAY. ONLY THING NOT REPLACED IS THE FROTN STEERING KNUCKLE BALL JOINTS... BUT APPEAR TO BE GOOD. DIDD HAVE A TIGHT TURN TODAY AND FELT LIKE STEERING WAS LOCKED AND LOST ASSIST, BUT DIDN'T.. THE SLOWED DOWN AND HAD IT BACK AND DID OK. I KNOW THE TOE WAS GOOD LAST TIME I HAD IT ON THE ALIGNMENTRACK. AND HAS ALL NEW WHEEL BEARINS INNER AND OUTTERS AND PROPPERLY GREASED.. NOW, ANY IDEAS? AND WILL THE STARIGHT AXLE BALL JOINTS CASUE THIS REACTION? FEELS LIKE LOOSE FRONT END? NEVER HAD A STRIGHT AXLE TRUCK IN 4X4 BEFORE... LOOKING FOR IDEAS? THANKS.. HELL. OVER 10K INT THIS THING AND NEED TO FIX STEERING OR WIFE NEEDS ME TO SELL IT...!!!!
Just out of curiosity why the +2 C bushings if there is no lift? Possible that the positive caster is too much which will make the wheels not want to return to center. Can also make it feel a little "squirlly" at low speed.
To check the upper and lower ball joints jack up the side in question, grab the tire at 12:00 and 6:00 and push back and fourth (alternate hands ie top hand pull bottom hand push and vise versa). If there is any play its in the upper or lower ball joints.
i am running the red-head box and its been great. have you also considered perhaps the powersteeing pump is beginning to fail/die? did you flush all the old fluid out before swapping to the new box? I know my powersteering uses ATF not PS fluid.
I'd agree that maybe the pump isn't doing it's job anymore. Maybe look at doing the Saginaw swap? Also the dual stabilizers might be too much if you have a stock pump. How much play is in the wheel right now? Have someone move the wheel back and forth while you roll under the front and check out the steering links. The bushings on our Trac-Bars can cause a lot of problems if they are toast.
Check your track bar bushings. Dual steering stabilizers might be a little much for a non-lifted Bronco. Check and make sure one of the stabilizers isn't damaged or bent.

Not only non lifted but probably stock tire size. My stock furd pump was dieing with my 35's and a single cheapie stabilizer. Duals is probably similar resistance.
